About Us

Anyone can write a game story. We want to find deep connections with people and the sports they play. 

Sure, this will touch on the top four major sports leagues -- NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL. But, so much more than that, we want to find the meaningful stories that go far beyond those four major North American leagues, the humans that play in those leagues, and the behind-the scenes stories that aren't always told.

What's the day-to-day life of an average minor league baseball player look like? Do you know a youth or high school athlete who accomplished something rare? 

We won't be "breaking" any news. We won't be writing game recaps. 

I have a day job, so I unfortunately have the luxury of spending 8+ hours per day on my endeavor either (at least not for the time being). But, what this will be, is a place to read engaging, behind-the-scenes stories of athletes, coaches, officials, across the United States -- and maybe, one day, we can reach across the globe. 

With women's sports receiving significantly less media coverage in comparison to the men, we'll also be dedicating the site to shedding just as much light on the women in the sports world -- maybe even more, in some cases. 

About the Owner

Ben Heck, 30 

After graduating with his Bachelor's degree in communications/media production from Salisbury University in December of 2015, Ben accepted a job as sports editor/writer for three local newspapers in southern Delaware. He served in that position from September 2016-December 2019 before moving to southern Louisiana at the end of 2019.

While living in Lafayette, Louisiana, Ben worked as a sports freelance writer and photographer for the Acadiana Advocate and Livingston Parish News from September 2020 - December 2020.

In late February of 2021, Ben and his wife moved back up north to Wilmington, Delaware, where he freelanced for the Delaware State News and Delaware Live from March 2021 until February 2022.

He currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and two cats, where he's working full time as a store manager while occasionally freelancing part-time on the side for the Baltimore Sun.
